This is a story in poetic form, the fourth in the series, which deals with body image and change. It parallels what happens to our bodies as we change from a child into an adolescent. The Tadpole wants to understand if he will always look different and his wise and gentle mother describes what will happen as he grows up. This is the first of many lessons that the children’s books in this series will touch upon. It opens up conversations between children and adults and can be used as a teaching tool.
